In Namchi, Sikkim, India

And yet another holiday Monday, its a wonder how the kids learn anything with all this time off! I'm in a place called Namchi, there is a religions festival going on. I shall take some photos and upload when i can.

I've not had internet all week at the school. Nice to get back in communication!

On Tuesday, Bhaichumg (one of the regular jeeps drivers) invited us for dinner with his wife and 5 year old daughter, we had a lovely time. He supplied amazing food, beer and great conversation. Was interesting swapping culture stories. (photo to follow).

I head off to Nepal on Thursday morning, might be staying there for a couple of months or so. I'm not looking forward to the journey, 3/4 hours in a jeep, then 16/17 hours on a bus!! It’s all part of the adventure i suppose. I plan to stay a week in Kathmandu, then head down to Chitwan where i help with opening a preschool for local underprivileged kids.

  1. Hi Liz, they have done something at work so cant post comments. Hope you are keeping well and the trip to Nepal went OK. Can wait to see the pictures of the mountains. Now that you can speak fluent Indian its time to start learning Nepaleese that will give you something to do on your long walks in the morning. One thing is as you go south it will get warmer. But not at the moment as you are up so high. I think you are the hiest person that anyone knows at the moment ! must be at least 4,600 feet above sea level. And you are surrounded by four mountains, Shivapuri, Phulchowki, Nagarjun and Chandragiri. You might get to drink yak milk and even have a yak burger ! lol. Take care and post when you can.
